Who to choose ?

Whether you ’re essay to create the most enthralling news report or the strong political party , Baldur ’s Gate 3 gives you the tools to put together a dreaming team of companions . At the time of writing , there are 10 companion whom you could discover on your travels , and they can all co - exist in your camp . Only three get to travel with you at any one time , however , giving you some potentially problematical option to make . Below you ’ll get hold our ranking of all these companion , make those choices somewhat comfortable .

Best Companions in BG3

The trouble with ranking associate in a game such as Baldur ’s Game 3 isit is decidedly subjective . Two of the large gene arewhich alignment you feel you desire the company to rive towardsandwhich party persona your independent character will live up to . If you want to play a rogue , for example , it ’s going to be tricky to squeeze Astarion into your company as a 2nd stealer . And if you want to roleplay as good , siding with a colored Bos enemy is n’t operate to sit well with you ! So , with that in mind , here is my personal subjective ranking for the potential companions in BG3 .

10. Wyll

I found Wyll incredibly annoying , almost from the outset . He spring into the game with an admirable flourish , attend like Book fromFireflyand kick ass as he leaps into conflict . But once you start utter toWyll , you ’ll get a line his personality isa mixture of smug and know - it - all . you could see his storyline twist coming from a international mile away , and it seems the enemy can see his attacks that way too . A warlock with melee disposition just does n’t fit into my plans .

9. Halsin

You ’ll be macabre to death of hearing Halsin ’s name by the time you regain him later in Act 1 , andyou wo n’t be capable to get him into your political party until Act 2 . By then you ’ll probably be reasonably untroubled in your lineup , and despite everyone in Druid Grove rate him highly , in the true , he is just a druid . If you really want a druid , you ’re either going to be playing one yourself or ( plunderer alert ) there ’s a more compelling one ( personality - wise ) a little further down this listing .

8. Gale

Galehas a scrap of a Wyll issue for me , in that hisvoice and personality immediately plough me off(despite being well done ) . Another hump - it - all who clear thinks they ’re superior to you , why would you need to hang out with this guy ? Especially when his account sees him seemingly wanting to consume some of your safe point as a collation . He’d only make my party if I really need a wizard in my lineup , as no one else really fits that government note .

7. Jaheira

A slew of hoi polloi are going to have Jaheira higher on their inclination , as she’sa beloved part ofBaldur ’s Gatelore . She alsoarrives in BG3 in Act 2 , at a time you ’re potential to desire to freshen up your company . The downside is it’sa snatch of a faff to get her to become a companion , which candidly put me off as I already have a solid political party . Also , weirdly , she ’s another druid . I can understand putting one druid fellow in , but two ? It ’s not as if there ’s a dearth of class options in the plot …

6. Karlach

I like Karlach ’s personality good of all , with her street posture and positive outlook shining through in her fantastic interpreter acting . TheKarlachstoryline is a little footer , but she ’s just fun to have along for the ride thanks to her sunny behaviour . regrettably , the barbarian class does n’t seem to fare too well in BG3,and if you ’re only carry with one consecrated melee specialist , there are better options usable .

5. Minthara

If you mean to play Baldur ’s Gate 3 as an malevolent fictitious character , you’re able to once again move Minthara a good few places up this leaning — perhaps even into the phone number one place . To get on her good side as it were , you ’re going to have tobetray the Druid Grove to have her get together you during Act 2 . But is Druid Grove really that good ? It may be deserving it either way to get a strong paladin into your company , give you a strong admixture of tank and healer in one .

4. Shadowheart

I would ’ve hadShadowheartin a higher spot if I did n’t enjoy playing a cleric as my briny , and if she was n’t one of the feeble churchman subclasses ( Trickery ) . I’ddefinitely pick her if you need a healer in the party , especially as you’re able to build her to either be battle royal or lay out depending on your needs . well still , she has a rich and compelling plot line , and she immediately warm to you after you save her life . She ’s no pushover though , but I felt a trammel with her personality straight away .

3. Minsc

A steady in the games , novels , and adventures , Minsc isa bit of a favorite from the Baldur ’s Gate series . He does n’t get in BG3 until much subsequently in the secret plan ( Act 3 ) , but by then it ’s nice to have a fresh familiar to add to the ranks , specially one with such a rich personality . Minsc is alsoa Ranger , which is a great scrap add-on to most parties , as you may build him as either a melee or ranged specialiser .

2. Lae’zel

Lae’zelis theonly one of the possible Baldur ’s Gate 3 companions who feels genuinely exotic . From the instant I met her on the ship , I wanted to bed more , and rather than being an arrogant interpreter of her race , she feels like a distinctive member of a social club that sees itself as higher on the food chain .   In terms of party public utility , she make foran excellent frontline melee fighter whom you may form into a tank or straight DPS .

1. Astarion

Thewell - spoken yet down - on - his - luck personalityofAstariongave me something of aWithnailvibe which I mechanically warm to . The obsessiveness mixed with the slightly corny yet well - done vampire slant keep his storyline appealing . There’sa large chunk of vulnerability that cuts through the arroganceenough to make him knead , unlike the likes of Wyll and Gale . Plus , he ’s a rogue , and you gotsta have a rogue .
