Yo - ho and I just require a little bite more .
The Golden Age of Pirates is live in TV games , but it does n’t really shine in Skull and Bones . It has its moments , but they are tarnished by the fact that the plot just feel incomplete — especially if you liken it to other pirate game .
World
The World of Skull and Bones is vast . From Patamyar Mountains to Lake Bwawa , there are so many billet that you’re able to search . Or that ’s what it looks like at first glance . The game embark on off anticipate , letting me explore the Sainte - Anne outpost and then the sunken Exeter . Both seemed very limited , with Exeter almost in full empty of anything to interact with other than the cannons . Instead of require me to explore the wreck , the game could have just ask me to take a walk .

Visually , it ’s a very sensational game . I loved customizing my ships . I puff the first time I stepped on the beach in Kaa Mangrove . It is so beautiful that I was in photo mode for a lot of my playtime . The problem with the domain of Skull and Bones is that it is visually appealing but miss depth . Almost every aspect could have been better with just a moment more add together to it . And we ’ve seen other games do it , so it ’s quite perplexing as to why Skull and Bones did n’t do the same .

Gameplay
I enjoy the sailing quite a bit , and if I had n’t been afraid of getting destroyed by other ship , it would have been a lovely ocean trip on the ocean . I also enjoyed the sea shanties of the crew , as it really set the mood for the sailing . However , I did n’t care that you were stuck at the helm and were n’t able to explore your ship at all . It felt like I was n’t part of the crew .
When it come up to exploring , I was very grateful for the Codex in Skull and Bones . With so many island to chit-chat and oceans to voyage , it really is n’t feasible to go on the hunting forBlueprintsand materials without any help whatsoever . The fact that I could select a material , and it would show up on my map even in areas that I have n’t explore yet , was extremely helpful .
I was the least impressed by the conflict in Skull and Bones . When I think of pirates , I think of pillaging and boarding ships , fighting with my crew for the treasures of the enemy . alternatively , I got a cannon engagement that feel more like I was shooting a hitman in an FPS and a cutscene when you board the enemy ship . While boarding does give you more loot , I did n’t even see the tip of doing it after the 5th fourth dimension I watched the cutscene . I ’d rather check the ship sink , thanks .

Quests
To make up for a lot of empty space and the inability to get off at any beach I want , the biz does have a batch of things to do . Apart from the main story declaration , there are side contracts , investigations , and treasure hunt , which I ’ve enjoy the most . The Sea Merchant and I have a particular joining , and I ’ll chance any and all Sea Relics she wants me to find .

Other than contracts , you may start Investigations and take up Bounty hunt from the display board in Sainte - Anne . The bounty hunting was definitely enjoyable , and I love the challenge , though I did sting off more than I could chew quite a few times . Sometimes , just bestial military posture is n’t the solvent ; you have to come up with strategy . I definitely would n’t have been a Captain if I had been a sea rover in veridical liveliness .

Crafting
There are a stack of crafting options in Skull and Bones , from ships to tools and weapons . You ’ll need Blueprints for a destiny of these , which is where the Codex comes into play . It will give you clues about where you may find them , which I apprize since I do n’t need to be on a wild blueprint pursual . The same go away for materials that I require to take in . This adds a playfulness and challenging aspect to the craft , never recognize if I will make it back to a secure port with all of my cabbage .
However , I did n’t specially enjoy the harvesting mini - games , either for material or when check and unlocking shipwrecks . It just felt like a misfortunate replacement for what it could have been , which is actually get off the ship onto the beach , collecting , and exploring . I enjoy endurance games and do n’t mind chop down a tree or two ; I do creative thinker pose on the ship for most of the game and somehow magically collecting the material I need .

Verdict
I did enjoy play Skull and Bones , peculiarly at the start . However , my issue was that I had the most play in those moments when I did n’t think back that there were other pirate games . Skull and Bones has been in evolution for a longsighted fourth dimension , and we all just expected a lot more from it . For now , my Jolly Roger is n’t vanish , but maybe it will again in the future .
