As the Darkness lap over the Sol system , the Traveler created a safe bastion over what would become the Last City on Earth . From this calamity , the Traveler deploy ghostwriter to resurrect warrior that would eventually become Guardians . Since then , it has persist on Earth .
For the third time in recorded cognition , the Darkness has come for the Traveler . Once more , the Traveler has assay to flee . As for why the Traveler would take flight , it all comes down to speculation . We have a crazy theory . What if the Traveler is n’t a sentient entity and is rather a conception ? What it if was made for the intention of bear a unmarried entity and was designed to use the resources of whatever organization it was in to keep its prisoner locked up ? What if the Witness is locked away inside the Traveler and the Darkness is do-or-die to retrieve them ?

This would excuse why the Darkness pursues the Traveler . It could also excuse why the Traveler flees if it is ineffective to fight back . It would also excuse why Guardians came to be . With nowhere to draw , why not build a defense force to keep the prisoner guarded , even if unwittingly ?
Despite this wild hypothesis , there is one thing we do cognize that is back by historical evidence . The Traveler does n’t care about anyone or anything that is n’t itself . If able , it will run at the first sign of danger . We do n’t live what it is , but it ’s vindicated that the Light has its own agenda and maybe Guardians are n’t on the correct side of the fight .
